Applicable scenarios for butterfly valves

Butterfly valves are suitable for flow regulation. Due to the relatively large pressure loss of butterfly valves in pipelines, the solidity of the butterfly plate against the pressure of the pipeline medium during closure should also be considered. In addition, the limitations of the working temperature of the elastic valve seat material at high temperatures must also be considered. Butterfly valves have a small structural length and overall height, fast opening and closing speeds, and good fluid control characteristics. The structural principle of butterfly valves is most suitable for manufacturing large-diameter valves. When a butterfly valve is required for flow control, the most important thing is to correctly select the size and type of the butterfly valve so that it can work properly and effectively.
Generally, in throttling, regulating control, and slurry media, a short structural length and fast opening and closing speed (1/4 turn) are required. For low-pressure shut-off (small pressure difference), butterfly valves are recommended.
Butterfly valves can be selected for two-position regulation, reduced-diameter channels, low noise, cavitation and vaporization phenomena, small leakage to the atmosphere, and abrasive media.
Under special operating conditions, such as throttling regulation, strict sealing requirements, severe wear, low temperature (cryogenic), etc., special butterfly valves with a special design metal seal regulating device, three-eccentric or double-eccentric, should be used.
Butterfly valves are suitable for applications requiring complete sealing, zero gas test leakage, high life expectancy, and operating temperatures between -10°C and 150°C, such as freshwater, wastewater, seawater, saltwater, steam, natural gas, food, pharmaceuticals, oil products, and various acids, alkalis, and other pipelines.
Soft-sealed eccentric butterfly valves are suitable for bidirectional opening and closing and regulation of ventilation and dust removal pipelines, and are widely used in metallurgical, light industry, power, and petrochemical systems for gas pipelines and waterways, etc.
Metal-to-metal line-sealed double-eccentric butterfly valves are suitable for urban heating, gas supply, water supply, and other gas, oil, acid, and alkali pipelines as regulating and throttling devices.
In addition to being used as a program control valve for large-scale pressure swing adsorption (PSA) gas separation devices, metal-to-metal surface-sealed three-eccentric butterfly valves can also be widely used in the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, metallurgical, and power industries, and are a good alternative to gate valves and globe valves.
